Kerosene poisoning and its management.

KEROSENE POISONING:-

• A serious pediatric problem in india and other developing countries
• Most common factor affecting poisoning: storage of kerosene in soft drink and beer bottles
• Most cases occur between1-3 years of age
• 70% children develop symptoms
• Within 10 hours of kerosene ingestion.
• Mortality range from 2 to 10%.
• Kerosene are available in every home.

Management:-

• O2 therapy 
• Antibiotics
• Observation for at least 24 hours till normal vital parameters.
