How to introduce COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)| What are the risk factor, symptom,diagnosis,management and complication of COPD.

Introduction:-

COPD is a life threatening lungs disease which results in breathing problem due to obstruction in the airways.

In some cases the air sacs ( alveoli ) get damaged gradually leading to a condition called emphysema. In other cases the airways get inflamed ( irritation ) leading to a condition called chronic brochitis.

Risk factors of COPD:-

Tobacco smoke 

Asthma

Outdoor air pollution

Indoor air pollution

Family history

Occupational dust and chemicals.

Symptom of COPD:-

Shortness of breath(Dyspnoea)

Wheezing

Chest tightness

Cough with mucus

Unintended weight loss.

Diagnosis:-

History collection

Physical examination

Chest xray

Pulmonary function tests

Management:-

Management involves inhaled Bronchodilatos, inhaled steroids oral steroids antibiotics oxygen therapy steam inhalation nebulization chest phsiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Complication of COPD:-

Complication of COPD are respiratory infection such as cold, flu and pnemonia, high blood pressure, heart problems including heart attack, right sided heart failure( corpulmonale) lung cancer, depression etc.
